Joey is a creative thinker and doer, committed to improving the lives of students by combining his experience with leadership, IT, and debate. He is a first-generation college student, with a BS in Computer Science. Joey has worked as a leader within educational technology, serving as a software developer and IT Architect. He has also been a lecturer in academic competitive debate, and founded the Southern California Debate Cooperative, through which he expanded access to top-tier training for students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. He is dedicated to expanding openness and inclusion within higher education, and for increasing transparency for all participants. As a Fellow of the UIA, he’s helped lead and advise efforts to establish Student Services Portfolios so campuses can strategically invest in tools to serve all students, and better inform students of programs to increase their university success.
